Farmhouse Table Makeover

I love farmhouse style. Not only because I’m addicted to watching HGTV’s Fixer Upper, but because I grew up in a very small country village and my parents have a small farm. Old traditional czech houses and furniture are definitely a great inspiration for me. I love old furniture with character ๐Ÿ™‚

Recently I had a great opportunity to try my own furniture makeover, because we are putting together a craft room. My mom wanted a white table. I decided to take it a bit further and give it some country charm ๐Ÿ™‚

The table before the makeover. It was old, it had multiply layers of paint and it was missing a drawer knob. Needless to say, it spent a looot of time in our attic.

I sanded the table. Wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. I wanted a nice smooth surface to paint.

After I cleaned up the dust, I painted the table white. I used a universal paint for wood that leaves a nice shiny surface. The table was drying for a day.

When the table was dry enough, I painted the edges with my own mix of ivory color. I used a hobby craft paint for that.

After the second paint dried, I sended slightly most of the edges and a little bit of the surface.

I repeated the process with the drawer knob. I looove how it turned out ๐Ÿ™‚

Can’t wait to create more good stuff on this table. The crochet teddy bears are enjoying it already!

What do you think? ๐Ÿ™‚
